ATG10 (Uniprot: Q9H0Y0)

General Information

ATG10 belongs to ATG12 conjugation system and functions in the early stages of autophagy initiation. ATG10 acts as E2 enzyme and helps transfer ATG12 to its ultimate target ATG5, which in turn binds to ATG16L1 and forms a trimeric complex of ATG12–ATG5-ATG16L1 (PMID: 22682742). This trimeric complex facilitates the PE conjugation in the LC3 family of proteins (PMID: 11100732).
