ULK4 is a serine/threonine kinase from ULK protein family, yet its role in autophagy has not been reported so far. ULK4 contains a protein-protein interaction motif of armadillo/beta-catenin-like repeats in the middle region which is missing in other homologs. It shares high sequence similarity in kinase domain with ULK1-ULK2 (PMID: 20083114). Recurrent deletions in ULK4 gene have been associated with developing Schizophrenia (PMID: 24284070)
