ATG101 is a key element for autophagy induction and is a part of the ULK complex. It primarily binds to the PS domain of ULK1. Upon mTORC1 inhibition, it interacts with other elements of ULK complex. It has been reported that ATG101 stabilizes ATG13 (a component of ULK complex) and the absence of ATG101 is linked to the degradation of ATG13 via proteasomal degradation (PMID: 19287211).
