RB1CC1 (otherwise known as FIP200) is an integral component of the ULK complex and is recruited in the initial stages of autophagy. ULK complex gets activated due to the interaction of ATG11 with RB1CC1 and this interaction is considered to be essential for the induction of autophagy (PMID: 31238043). Apart from its active role in the ULK complex, its interaction with ATG16L1 is also reported to be critical for autophagosomal growth by targeting ATG16L1 towards the phagophore (PMID: 23392225, 23262492).
